Schools for Africa

There can be no contentment for us when there are children, millions of children, who do not receive an education that provides them with dignity and honour and allows them to live their lives to the full.

It is not beyond our power to create a world in which all children have access to a good education.

In Sub-Saharan Africa alone, 45 million children don't get the chance to go to school. That's almost one half of Africa's future trapped behind an insurmountable wall of ignorance, poverty and discrimination.

UNICEF is working with governments, local authorities, communities and other partners initially in Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

We wish to help UNICEF reach their goal of 50 million USD by Christmas 2010. The 50 million will:

  • Send four million children to school
  • Build/refurbish 1.000 schools with inventory
  • Establish schools that offers a safe and protective environment where children learn and play
  • Ensure the children clean water and satisfactory sanitary conditions
  • Ensure the children school material and sporting equipment
  • Train/educate 80.000 teachers

It's a perfect fit that Schools for Africa aims to finish at the time we reach Cape Town in November 2010. We also hope that we have reached our goal by that time. Our goal is to contribute with 200 000 USD!
